Nearly 20 years ago, I served as the editor of a local hip-hop magazine and it set my journalism career in motion. Put together by a bunch of college-aged kids with a passion for highlighting the local rap scene, we were the first to witness the birth of the hyphy movement and share our culture with the rest of the world.
